Please ensure your personal containers not exceed 33gal or 50lbs and are in good condition and suitable for automated collection. We are not responsible for any damage during the curbside collection process.

General Guidelines

All solid waste materials must be placed at the curb for collection by 6:00 am the day of your scheduled collection, but not before 5:00 pm the day before your pick-up. We cannot guarantee a specific time the driver will be at your home, please note the collection time with Flood Brothers Disposal may differ from those of the current provider.

Containers must be out by 6:00 am on collection day.

Refuse

Flood Brothers Disposal will provide each single family home and certain 2-unit residences weekly collection services. Residents will retain the existing 95-gallon two-wheeled refuse cart. Additional refuse carts are available for rental for an annual rental fee of $35.00 billed directly from Flood Brothers Disposal.

Additional household refuse is also accepted at no charge when properly prepared:

  • Bagged refuse
  • Containers no larger than 35 gallons
  • Maximum weight of 50 pounds per bag or container

Recycling

Residents will retain the existing 95-gallon two wheeled recycling carts. Flood Brothers will allow recycling materials to be comingled (i.e. plastic, glass, metal and paper products mixed together). Additional recycle carts are available for rental for an annual rental fee of $35.00 billed directly from Flood Brothers Disposal.

Yard Waste Collection

Flood Brothers Disposal will provide weekly collection of yard waste from first full week of April through the end of the second week in December on the same day as refuse and recycling collection each week. Residents will retain any existing 95-gallon two wheeled yard waste carts.

Option to purchase one (1) brown yard waste cart for $27.50, if resident does not have one. Any additional yard waste carts are available for rental for an annual rental fee of $35.00 billed directly from Flood Brothers Disposal. Limit of three (3) carts per household.

All additional yard waste shall be placed in a plastic or metal container with a tight cover clearly labeled, or a biodegradable Kraft bag, of a size no larger than 33- gallons and not exceeding 50-pounds.

We will accept and collect all bundles of brush or limbs, providing the bundles do not exceed a weight of 50-pounds per bundle, are not more than four-feet long, are not more than two-feet in diameter, do not contain limbs greater than three-inches in diameter and are tied with a material that is accepted at the compost site.

Bulk Item Collection

As part of the regularly scheduled refuse collection, Flood Brothers Disposal will collect bulk items each week on refuse collection day at no additional charge for items weighing less than 50-pounds. An example, the following items are considered bulk items: mattresses, box springs, small tables, chairs, and other small furniture. Bulk items weighing more than 50-pounds, please call Flood Brothers Disposal at least 24-hours prior to schedule special pick up.

Bulk Waste & Special Collection Guidelines

Oak Lawn residents may place out one(1) bulk item per week at no additional charge as part of their regularly scheduled waste collection service.

Accepted Bulk Items

One (1) of the following items or material categories may be placed out each week at no additional charge:

Furniture & Large Household Items

Examples include:

  • Sofas and couches
  • Dressers
  • Chairs and tables
  • Mattresses
  • Hot water heaters
  • Carpet rolls (maximum 4 feet in length), carpet must be tied with rope or twine, 5 rolls = 1 bulk item

Small Quantities of Sod, Earth & Rock

  • Must be placed in suitable containers
  • Containers may not exceed 60 pounds

Household Construction & Remodeling Materials

(From homeowner repairs or remodeling projects only; new construction materials are not accepted.)

Examples include:

  • Furnaces
  • Bathtubs
  • Shower stalls
  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Other fixtures or materials that are part of a home

Loose construction materials must be:

  • Placed in a Village-approved container
  • Bundled securely
  • Bundles may not exceed 4 feet in length
  • Maximum weight of 60 pounds per bundle or container

Additional Bulk Items

Residents wishing to dispose of more than one (1) bulk item in a week must contact Flood Brothers to schedule collection.

Additional Bulk Item Fee: $8.50 per item

Household Construction Material Collections

Household construction and remodeling debris exceeding the weekly bulk allowance may be collected for an additional charge.

Household Construction Material Fee: $7.50 per cubic yard (2-yard minimum)

Scheduling & Payment

Additional bulk items and construction material collections must be scheduled by contacting Flood Brothers.

Payment is required at the time of scheduling.

Christmas Tree Collection

Flood Brothers Disposal will provide a special collection for Christmas trees the first three weeks of January at no charge.

Special Collections

Residents can contract individually with Flood Brothers for collection of extra-large items or large volumes such as construction or move-out debris with an advance call. For large construction or cleanup projects, temporary containers are available. Contact Flood Bros for prices and availability.

Tire pick up fee $25.00 per tire.

White Good Item Collection

Flood Brothers Disposal offers collection services for white good items (i.e. appliances) for an additional fee $20.00 billed directly by Flood Brothers. Examples shall include refrigerators, dish washers, water heaters, washers, dryers, etc. Appliances: refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, dishwasher, hot water heater, etc. We ask that you remove the doors from any refrigerator and freezer. After the items are collected, Freon is safely removed (if present) and appliances are recycled. Appliances must be empty. Residents will be asked to call our office 24 hours prior to collection to schedule the pickup. The collection of white goods will be billed directly by Flood Brothers.

Collection Days

All materials (refuse, recycling, and yard waste) will be collected on the same day, once per week.

6:00am - 6:00pm            Monday – Friday

Office Hours

7:30am - 5:30pm            Monday – Friday

8:00am - 12:00pm          Saturdays

Holidays and Holiday Service Schedules

If a holiday falls on a weekday or Sunday, (if holiday falls on Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday) and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day.

Billing

Quarterly Billing is administered by the Village. Additional carts and special collections billed by Flood Brothers Disposal.

Electronics Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste

Flood Brothers Disposal will provide weekly scheduled collection services for electronic recyclables for a fee of $30.00(up to ten items/ 1 TV only). Residents are required to call our office 24-hours prior to collection to schedule pick up.

Collection services for hazardous waste for a fee of $7.00 per item. Flood Brothers Disposal requires residents to reach out to our office when possible hazardous waste material may need to be disposed of (i.e., paint, pesticides, poison, cleaning solvents, oil, gasoline and other automotive fluids). Residents will be required to call our office 24-hours prior to collection to schedule pick up.
