All items for collection must be placed at the curb the night before service, or by 6:00 a.m on service days.

Service Days are Mondays and Tuesdays.

Residents North of Route 72 will be serviced on Mondays, with Tuesday service provided for residents south of Route 72.

Refuse

Flood Brothers will provide each single-family home with a 95-gallon refuse cart for weekly collection. Additional carts are available for those residents that would be interested; an additional rental price per month would be applied.  Any refuse that cannot fit into the Flood Bros. issued cart must be placed in a bag or container not to exceed 35-gallons or 75lbs.

Recycling

Flood Brothers. will provide each single-family home with a 95-gallon recycling cart for weekly collection. Additional carts are available for those residents that would be interested; an additional rental price per month would be applied.

Flood Brothers will allow recycling materials to be co-mingled (i.e. plastic, glass, metal and paper products mixed together). There is no limit to the number of recycling bins or to the quantity of recyclables that a household may place at the curb for collection.  Residents have the right to set out recycling bins which are clearly marked for recycling collection and do not exceed 35 gallons or 75lbs. Flood Brothers will collect from all the recycling bins that have been placed at the curb for collection.

Yard Waste Collection

Flood Brothers will provide weekly collection of yard waste. 95-gallon carts are available for those residents that would be interested, a monthly rental rate applies
Yard waste collection is provided  from April 1st to December 15th on the same day as refuse and recycling collection each week.

All yard waste shall be placed in either a Flood Brothers issued waste bin, or a plastic or metal container with a tight cover, or a biodegradable Kraft bag, of a size no larger than 35 gallons and not exceeding 50lbs.

There shall be no limit on the number of containers placed out for collection by a given household.  We will accept and collect all bundles of brush or limbs, providing the bundles do not exceed a weight of fifty (50) pounds per bundle, are not more than four (4) feet long, are not more than two (2) feet in diameter, do not contain limbs greater than three (3) inches in diameter and are tied with a material that is accepted at the compost site.

Note: Dirt, pots, sod, large branches, tree stumps, rocks, garden vegetables, fruit and non-organic materials are not considered yard waste and WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.

Bulk Item Collection

Refuse collection will also include two bulk items (i.e., discarded furniture). Acceptable waste that is not in a container or bagged is considered a bulk item. For bulk items that exceed 75 pounds, Flood Bros. will leave a tag on the item stating item requires a special pick up.

Residents will be required to contact Flood Brothers to schedule special pick up and will be charged $20.00 for each item that requires special pickup.

Holidays

If a holiday falls on a weekday or a Sunday, and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day. Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

Flood Brothers will not collect on the following holidays:

  • NEW YEAR’S DAY
  • MEMORIAL DAY
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY
  • LABOR DAY
  • THANKSGIVING DAY
  • CHRISTMAS DAY

Christmas Tree Collection

Flood Bros. will provide a special collection for Christmas trees during the month of January..  Holiday greenery must have all tinsel, ornaments, lights and nails removed before being placed out at the curb for pickup.

White Good Item Collection

Flood Brothers will also provide collection services for white good items (i.e. appliances). White goods will be charged $30.00 per item collected. Examples shall include refrigerators, dish washers, water heaters, washers, dryers,  freezer, air conditioner, dishwasher, hot water heater, etc. We ask that you remove the doors from any refrigerator and freezer.

After the items are collected, freon is safely removed (if present) and appliances are recycled. Appliances must be empty. Residents will be asked to call our office 24 hours prior to collection to schedule the pickup.

E-Waste (Electronic) Collection

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states electronic waste is now the fastest growing segment of our nation's waste stream. Electronic waste, from computers to TVs, contain toxic materials such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, nickel, zinc and other potentially harmful chemicals. The EPA warns when electronics that contain these materials are not recycled or are not disposed of properly, the hazardous chemicals can contaminate the ground water and present additional environmental concerns. Illinois State Law bans electronic waste in landfills. Under this state law, electronic waste cannot be collected with household refuse/waste.

Household Hazardous Waste/Unacceptable Materials

Flood Brothers will collect up to ten (10) eligible hazardous waste materials which includes one (1) TV per month. Residents will be asked to call our office 48 hours prior to collection to schedule pickup. Examples include household items, paint products, electronics, garden chemicals, sharps, batteries, CFL bulbs, automotive materials, pool chemicals, mercury items.
