Riverside

All items for collection must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. every Thursday. Drivers call our office by radio and advise us of the houses that do not have their refuse out.

If you fail to place your garbage, recycling or yard waste at the curb on your scheduled day, our driver will return the following week.

REMINDER: Please DO NOT mix yard waste with your regular garbage, it WILL NOT be collected. Yard waste must be separated and properly containerized.

Household Refuse Collection

Refuse must be properly containerized in bags or cans, and not to exceed a 50-pound weight limit. Flood Brothers provides a 65-gallon toter for the use of refuse collection. In addition, residents are allowed to place up to one (1) cubic yard of additional waste that does not fit inside the Flood Brothers’ toter out for collection each week. Residents should place their one (1) cubic yard of additional waste in their own containers which should not exceed 35 gallons in capacity and fifty (50) pounds in weight.

Unlimited Yard Waste Collection

Begins First Thursday in April, Ends Last Thursday of November.

Yard waste is collected on THURSDAY’S from April 1 through November 30. Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, small shrubbery trimmings and plant materials such as weeds, unwanted plants and roots. Please make sure material is free from dirt. Do not mix yard waste with refuse or recycling. Each is collected separately and transported to a different facility. Grass clippings, leaves and plant material must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or a refuse can with two handles, no larger than thirty-five (35) gallons. If a can is used, it must be clearly marked “Yard Waste” and placed so the collection driver can see it from the street. The maximum weight of bags and cans is fifty (50) pounds. Branches must be cut into four (4) foot lengths and bundled. Bundles must not be larger than two (2) feet in diameter. Bushes cannot weigh more than fifty (50) pounds and cannot be longer than four (4) feet or wider than two (2) feet in diameter.

Holidays

If a holiday falls on a weekday or a Sunday, and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day.

Flood Brothers will not collect on the following holidays:

  • MEMORIAL DAY
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY
  • LABOR DAY
  • THANKSGIVING DAY
  • CHRISTMAS DAY

Christmas Tree Collection

Holiday greenery must have all tinsel, ornaments, lights and nails removed before being placed out at the curb for pickup. Holiday greenery collection and pickup is FREE OF CHARGE during the first two full weeks in January. Collection of holiday greenery after the first two weeks in January will be billed a $5.00/item bulk pickup charge on your next invoice.

Bulk Item Collection

Bulk items are collected on your regularly scheduled collection day. Bulk items that are too large to fit in a 65-gallon toter are considered a “bulk item”. A maximum of three (3) bulk items will be collected per household each week. Bulk items include sofas, tables, mattresses, box springs, bookcases and dressers. Tires, large car parts and vehicle batteries can not be collected.

Carpet must be cut into four (4) foot lengths and securely bound with tape, rope or twine in rolls or bundles. Rolls and bundles of carpeting must be no more than two (2) feet in diameter and weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds. Loose, unbundled carpeting can be collected at an additional charge by a special pick up arranged for in advance.

White Good Item Collection (Appliances)

There is no charge for the collection of white good items. There is a one (1) white good per household limit each week. White goods are appliances containing CFC, HCFC, PCB’s, mercury switches or other hazardous components such as stoves, hot water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves and furnaces. White goods will be collected by a separate truck. Please contact Flood Brothers customer service department at (630) 261-0400 to schedule a white good item pick up. Any white good item to be collected must be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Special Collection

On collection days, residents may throw out do-it-yourself construction or demolition debris in heavy duty bags, personal containers not larger than 33 gallons, or bundled pieces not exceeding 2 feet in diameter or 4 feet in length.. A charge of $24.00 per yard (2yd minimum) will be applied

The following items are considered special collection material: drywall, rocks, carpet, doors, paneling, concrete, lumber, cabinets and fixtures. All items must be placed in bags, boxes and maximum 32-gallon containers, which cannot exceed the 50-pound weight limit. Carpet rolls must be no longer than four feet in length and eighteen inches in diameter.

Unacceptable Materials

Household hazardous waste products are flammable, toxic, corrosive or reactive and pose a harmful threat or damage to the environment when disposed of improperly. Items such as paint, household batteries, pesticides, poisons, cleaning solvents, tainted gasoline, used oil and other automotive products are considered to be hazardous waste and should not be included with your regular garbage for disposal.

Single-Sort Recycling Program

The Village of Riverside supplied a 65-gallon toter, this is the Village’s property and is to be used for recycling only, if you do not have a recycle toter, Flood Brothers can provide one to you for a fee. Recyclable materials are collected on Thursdays and must contain only acceptable recyclable items. Please place ONLY approved items in the recycling cart. The collector is trained to check the contents of the cart. If there are non-recyclable contents present, the cart will be left with a violation tag. Recyclable materials do not need to be separated, but please rinse all recyclable items to remove food residue prior to pickup.  A complete list of acceptable and unacceptable materials can be found here.

Electronic Device Recycling

Flood Brothers will provide a drop off location at the Village of Riverside Public Works Department for resident drop off of any approved electronic waste; this will be done at no additional costs to residents of the Village of Riverside.

Service Related Issues

Moving

If you are moving, please contact our customer service department to terminate service and remove any Flood Brothers equipment provided. They are available during office hours at at (630) 261-0400.

Bill Payment Options

Flood Brothers Disposal & Recycling Company will bill for services six (6) times per year: January, March, May, July, September and November. Each bill represents a two (2) month period. Payments are to be made within twenty (20) days after receipt of the statement date. You may incur a finance charge if the payment is not received by the due date. Phone Payment
Credit card and check payment may be accepted over the phone. Please call our office at (630) 261-0400 Monday through Saturday during regular business hours to speak with our customer service department to charge your credit card or process your check.
Online Paperless Bill Payment
Our online bill payment program is a convenient, paperless option for customers to pay their bill. Visit make a payment to set up your user ID and password. Type in your original access code found on your statement to finish registering and to begin making payments online. Our site permits payment from a checking account or a credit card. The online bill payment program also allows you to view past payments made through our system, your current account balance and payment due date. A confirmation of payment received will be emailed to the email address provided.

Vacation Policy:

Residents are required to notify Flood Brothers prior to going on vacation. There is a 30 day minimum and no maximum (within one calendar year) in order to receive credit. Residents must supply a start and return date prior to their departure. Any balance must be paid in full before vacation status is applied. Credit will be applied upon return. No credit will be issued if Flood Bros Disposal is notified after the fact.
