All refuse and recycling must be placed at the curb or alley by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Flood Brothers cannot guarantee a specific collection time. Your collection day will remain the same, but the time of day your materials are collected may differ from your current Republic Services collection time.

Flood Brothers will provide each single-family residence with a 35, 65 or 95-gallon two-wheeled refuse cart for weekly collection.

Any refuse that does not fit inside your cart must have a refuse sticker affixed to each additional bag or container. Additional refuse must be placed in a plastic or metal container with a secure lid or in a bag no larger than 35 gallons and weighing no more than 50 pounds. Additional refuse carts are available for residents who need more capacity. Additional carts are rented on a per-cart, per-month basis and billed directly by Flood Brothers. Recyclable materials may be commingled, meaning accepted paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and metal recyclables can be placed together in your recycling cart. Flood Brothers provides weekly yard waste and food scrap collection from April 1 through November 30, on the same day as your regular refuse and recycling collection. Yard waste may be placed in a biodegradable Kraft paper bag or a plastic or metal container with a secure lid. Containers and bags may not exceed 35 gallons or 50 pounds.

Brush and branches must be securely tied with twine in bundles that: weigh no more than 50 pounds, are no longer than 4 feet, are no more than 2 feet in diameter, contain no individual branch greater than 3 inches in diameter. 

As part of your regularly scheduled refuse service, Flood Brothers will collect one bulk item per week at no additional charge on your primary refuse collection day. Examples of bulk items include: Mattresses and box springs, small tables and chairs, couches and other small household furniture. Each additional bulk item requires one prepaid sticker per item. For bulk items weighing more than 50 pounds, please contact Flood Brothers at least 24 hours in advance to determine collection requirements and to schedule a pickup.

Construction debris and materials requiring special collection may include drywall, rocks, carpeting, doors, paneling, concrete, lumber, cabinets, structural steel, fixtures and large or heavy items requiring more than one person to handle. Where applicable, materials must be placed in bags or containers no larger than 32 gallons and weighing no more than 50 pounds each. Please contact Flood Brothers for an estimate and collection instructions before placing construction debris or special collection items at the curb.

For larger remodeling, cleanout or construction projects, roll-off dumpsters are also available through Flood Brothers.

Flood Brothers will collect Christmas trees during the month of January. Please remove all decorations, lights, ornaments, tinsel, stands and other materials before placing your tree out for collection.

Flood Brothers provides collection of large household appliances, commonly referred to as white goods. Examples include refrigerators, dishwashers, water heaters, washers and dryers. Please contact Flood Brothers at least 24 hours before your collection day to schedule a pickup. Each appliance requires one prepaid sticker affixed to the item.

Illinois law prohibits certain electronic waste from being disposed of with regular household refuse. Electronic items covered by the state’s e-waste program should not be placed in your refuse cart or set out with regular household waste. Please contact Flood Brothers to request electronic waste collection and pricing.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states electronic waste is now the fastest growing segment of our nation’s waste stream. Electronic waste, from computers to TVs, contain toxic materials such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, nickel, zinc and other potentially harmful chemicals. The EPA warns when electronics that contain these materials are not recycled or are not disposed of properly, the hazardous chemicals can contaminate the ground water and present additional environmental concerns. Illinois State Law bans electronic waste in landfills. Under this state law, electronic waste cannot be collected with household refuse/waste.

Flood Brothers asks residents to reach out to our office when a possible hazardous waste material may need to be disposed of (i.e., paint, pesticides, poison, cleaning solvents, oil, gasoline and other automotive fluids). We will work with the resident to find the best solution for disposal with the assistance of DuPage and Will County Recycling programs.
